One late summer evening, I went to the lake near my home. It was an ordinary walk, and I expected to see familiar scenery. Instead, I saw a pier leading into fog instead of lake. I got paralyzed. There was no line between the sky and the water; wherever I looked, there was only nothingness. I peered into it, trying to recognize shapes and colors. I wasn't sure if I imagined traces of land and sunset, or if they were really there.
I felt like I was floating in that nothingness, dissolving into it. Like everything was nothing and nothing was everything. It was eternal loneliness and, at the same time, contentment and connection. I felt clarity and infinite calmness. In "Nothingness", I aimed to share that feeling of hypnotizing nothing - looking at you, paralyzing you, making you rethink your life.
